Hobby Action 2026 Kinwald Klassic

The Kinwald Klassic is an annual charity race established in honor of Brian "The Dirtinator" Kinwald, with all proceeds benefiting the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation.

This year's event generated 288 entries across 13 classes, from vintage to modern. Scale Speed sponsored the Sportsman 4WD class, a new and popular 21.5 based 1/10 buggy class, and donated an EMB-1 and EMB-TG to the raffle in support of the cause.

Chris ran his LC Racing LC10B5 V2 in the 17.5 Independent 4WD class, and things were dialed in perfect.

Managing to qualify P2 in the B-Main, he led the race until the final lap. Knowing it's the highest he's ever qualified in a big event, with 2nd hot on his tail the entire time, Chris let nerves get the best of him and clipped a pipe with 30 seconds to go.

The competition quickly passed, and Chris went for a full speed attempt to jump over him, tumbling off course. Back on track, he rapidly closed the gap rushing toward the start/finish line as the timer wound down, but cut the corner too tight and got caught on the pipe.

Although the car was only a few car lengths from the timing loop, the marshal couldn't get to it fast enough, and threw his car down across the line 0.2 seconds too late for a 12/5:00.2 finish.

A heartbreaking end, especially as Chris caught up and passed his competition (resting on their lid), just to realize he didn't make the cut on time...

Time to put in the work and qualify in the A to begin with.
