NOTE: These gearboxes are designed around the standard HD differential set (L6260) with L6258 ring gear and L6271 pinion gear. The machined ring and pinion gear option (L6297) by LC Racing results in a mesh that is way too tight, even when using the OEM plastic gearboxes.
Our gearboxes solve the root cause of ring/pinion damage (flex and skipping teeth), making the machined option gears unnecessary, even if they were designed properly.

They do weigh more than the plastic assemblies (obviously, aluminum is heavier than nylon) but the benefits outweigh (no pun intended) any cons. In fact, extra weight down low right in the center of the chassis can be quite beneficial to these little lightweight platforms. OEM nylon housings are 12 grams; our aluminum ones are 34 grams.
